This is really good book. It provides clear, straightforward, and comprehensive comparison of Computer-Based TOEFL and Paper-Based TOEFL, explains clearly the examination policy, and contains four TOEFL practice tests designated to simulate the actual TOEFL computer-based test. The grammar material is really nicely arranged.
The book has pocket size, so you can carry it in traffic. With this book you can study whenever you have free minute. You do not need to sit at the computer, CD player would be sufficiently enough. Still the explanations are good enough to give you a real flavor of the Computer Based TOEFL and Paper-Based TOEFL
If you are busy person, if you do not have lots of time and money to prepare to the exam, this book is for you.
I have just passed TOEFL CBT (250 is my score) and I am sincerely thankful to the author of this book

Woolfolk, the horoscope columnist for Marie Claire and Redbook magazines, has updated her classic guide for the first time in 19 years. Thoroughly covered here are sun signs, moon signs, planets, and the significance of the 12 zodiacal houses, as well as the most recent discoveries in astronomy and 21st-century projections. The author gives an easy, logical way to integrate the interpretations of the sun signs, moon signs, planets, and houses in any given chart, something not easily done or often seen in general astrology books. The book's only shortcoming is its lack of instruction on making a detailed technical chart, which is necessary if one is to cast a complete and accurate horoscope. However, Woolfolk compensates for this by teaching a simplified method that is about 90 percent accurate enough to get a beginner started and includes a bibliography for further instruction. Astronomical tables are included to help cast the simplified chart. A great bargain for the price, this is highly recommended for all astrology collections. If you want to learn how to cast charts and interpret go to a more advanced book

I am a professional Astrologer who has studied astrology for 16 years now. This was my first Astrology book at 15 and it was a very dim general introduction.To advise you before buying: It is very dumbed down for the novice to understand. There are better books to get a better understanding about astrology. The art of chart interpretation is complex and cannot be that simplified. If you want to accurately learn astrology then I suggest authors like Stephen Arroyo,Steven Forrest,Kevin Burke, ,Noel Tyl. I teach basic astrology and I would never recommend this book to my students. In an effort to be fair I will say if you do not want to cast charts and know some slight details on houses ,signs etc then this is a decent introduction but by no means is this a great book for the beginning astrology student. I will say although it was (((my first book)))) It never took me to that next level I was seeking. If I would have relied on it as my only book I would not be a good astrologer today.

Not the only one you'll need, and not the best introduction

The title really is false advertising: You can't even do the kind of astrology that's described in the book with just this book, as you need an ephemeris--a chart that tells you what degree your planets are in--to figure out the aspects between planets, and this is a central part of astrology. You can find an ephemeris--as well as more helpful readings of what planets in signs and houses mean--from Parker's Astrology, a far superior all-in-one astrology book. Much of Woolfolk's book has a cut-and-paste feel. There's a chintziness about the writing that is in keeping with the choice of such a cheesy, mercenary title. I'd like to single out the section on synastry, or chart comparison, which is bad to the point of being harmful. I give this book two stars rather than one because it can give a beginner a general idea of what real astrology is about, and may lead them on to more serious books. So it has some value to the extent that its title is wrong.

Alternative Learning

As a homeschooling mom, I found this book very informative and well-designed. My children (1 high school-aged taking college classes and the other elemntary school-aged) both enjoy the book and find it interesting. If you're looking for something for creative minds who have to have a reason to study a picture for a while to more fully understand concepts, this is the way to go. You can color the pictures or not and still get some useful material from this book.

Helped me with learning biology

I used this book to help me memorize important facts in biology. Although I had to use Raven's Biology book (not a bad textbook), this coloring book helped to reinforce the facts to my brain. I read somewhere that most people are visual learners. Being a visual learner myself, I found that coloring the pictures in really helped with learning the various structures. Sections on the cell were excellent. You could color in mitochondria or whatever other cell components. Excellent EM primer

I actually had the opportunity to receive instruction from Prof. Bozzola in both Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and acquired the book for those reasons. It is not common to find even a textbook with such well-detailed instructions from beginning level to advanced for a myriad of topics in the field. Of course, there is a very significant focus on biological applications, so some portions of the book are not entirely relevant to materials science folks like myself. This book covers the basics of optics, sample preparation, imaging, photography and film developing, and specifics about both TEMs and SEMs. This book is a very good investment for anyone intending to perform work with such instruments.

This is a great book for those entering the field of EM study. It takes you step by step through both SEM and TEM sample prep and analysis. It is packed with helpful pictures and diagrams. It is important to note that this is an atlas that indicates sites to inject particular muscles, doses, and action of the muscle and that it is not a textbook on botulinum toxin therapy. Some weaknesses include not much neck anatomy for cervical dystonia and it does not include all botulinum toxins in the dose tables. Otherwise it is really a go-to in terms of targeting trunk and limb muscles as well as additional areas such as salivary glands.

About the Author
On March 8, 2015, we unexpectedly lost our dear friend and co-author Gene Whittenburg. As the original author of INCOME TAX FUNDAMENTALS, Gene was critical in designing the forms-based approach that the book has used successfully for more than two decades. It is simply not possible to quantify the degree of our loss. Gene started his life in small-town Texas; entered the Navy; served his country in Vietnam, earned Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. degrees; and served as a distinguished faculty member at San Diego State University for almost 40 years. The outpouring of sorrow and gratitude from countless former students and colleagues are a wonderful tribute to Gene's love and devotion to teaching. We intend to continue to honor Gene by upholding his standard of publishing excellence for many years to come.

Dr. Steven Gill is an Assistant Professor of accounting and taxation in the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy at San Diego State University. He received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Florida, a M.S. in Taxation from Northeastern University and a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Gill worked almost 12 years in the field of accounting, serving in key roles in public accounting, internal audit, corporate accounting and, ultimately, vice president of finance. Although currently in inactive status, Dr. Gill held a Certified Public Accountant designation. His research interests include a concentration in taxation including mutual funds and college savings ("529") plans and wider interests in the behavior of taxpayers when facing taxes with little or no enforcement. Dr. Gill has published a wide variety of articles in various academic and practitioner journals. He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with a focus on teaching taxation and financial accounting.

Martha Altus-Buller is a CPA with more than 25 years of tax accounting experience. She attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon for two years, holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of California at San Diego and a M.S. in Accounting from San Diego State University. Ms. Altus Buller was awarded the Sells award for scoring among the top in the country on the May 1983 CPA exam. Her practical experience includes work as a tax manager for Arthur Young, now Ernst & Young, one of the Big 8 accounting firms at the time.

Overpriced but decent

The book is fine. It's outrageously overpriced just like every textbook and several basic pieces of information are incorrect for the current tax year (several tax tables). For the price the publisher insists on charging, it should be PERFECT. But it's written in a way that's understandable and it at least gets the job done.

A necessary book to purchase for class. However, DO NOT purchase if you need CENGAGENOW-this is not the bundle offer, just as the description stated it only comes with the H&R Block access code. Fairly easy to read and there were some chapters that needed more clarification that can be obtain through class discussion. I agree that this book is overpriced. The best thing was that It arrived on time as promised.

Overload can be a good thing!

I am an engineer but have never taken my EIT (FE) exam. I was interested in this book as possible preparation for the exam, if I decide to take it in the future. When looking through this book as soon as it landed on my door step, I was more than excited. While it does not cover any topic in detail (who would want a broad spectrum handbook to do that anyhow??!!?), it is unbelievably organized while covering many, many, many topics and engineering fields.

I currently work in a government engineering group. We all have different backgrounds. I have an electrical engineering background, while other co-workers are mechanical, civil, and chemical engineers. I told several people about this great resource. Two people have already been to my office to look through the book (PERFECT reference manual for work), and they were extremely giddy and excited about the amount it covers (excited as only an engineer could be about such a book). I've already used it several times to aid an applicant and to check some submitted applications. I feel I will be using this for years to come in my job and plan to use it in the future as a study aid for the FE exam. I think this book would be good for all engineering levels as a reference -- professionals with years in the industry, college students, and recent graduates who want a comprehensive manual that touches on (most) engineering topics. It is organized clearly and has been very helpful already.

4 years of college in 1 book

Where was this book when I was in college?! It has just enough information that you can he effective in almost any field related to mechanical engineering.

I brought only this book and a calculator to the PE exam for mechanical engineering and passed just fine on my first attempt. The only studying I did was the practice exam using this book and a couple hours to get used to the book. I have to laugh at the poor bastards that brought dollies to transport their milk crates full of books.

Outstanding reference book for engineers

This book is a revised version of the Big Yellow Book. Prior to 1993 (when the NCEES stopped allowing outside reference books), virtually everyone who took the Engineer-In-Training (now FE) certification exam brought that book to the exam. After taking the exam, many engineers (including me) kept it to use as a reference. Over twenty years later, I'm donating that book, my old thermo and heat transfer books, and my old calculus books among others. This book is a more than adequate replacement.

The topics are not covered in depth, and the subject areas are mostly introductory material for the various fields (similar to lower division courses), but they are comprehensive. The index is excellent. Since it is based on the old review manual where speed was essential, it is well-sorted, logical, and complete.

It is a little curious he kept the FORTRAN programming section. Maybe they still teach numerical analysis using FORTRAN or the FE exam still has questions about it, but it does seem archaic. I did appreciate the new sections on biology and organic chemistry. As far as the price, I was surprised at first but after looking at other review book prices determined this is pretty much in-line with the others. Registering on-line supposedly enables one year e-book access but either it is not yet available or it takes some time to activate.
